About H. A. Hanna Associates

In 1977 Allen Hanna designed and built a Building Operations Control System that continuously controlled and monitored all HVAC (heating, ventilating, air conditioning) systems, fire alarms, temperature, and humidity functions. It utilized a very new technology called a "micro computer."

Tom Woolwine and Carole Hanna joined in 1978 to create a microcomputer based management information system that took a novel approach to management information reporting with the utilization of microcomputer-generated graphic displays of trend analysis.

In the early 80's we were creating and marketing application programs for what was soon to be generally known as "personal computers."

The partnership, H. A. Hanna Associates, was officially created in 1982, and the next big project was a Distribution Cost Analysis application for Meredith Publishing that automatically routed second-class mail such as "Better Homes and Gardens" and other high-volume titles for lowest-cost distribution schemes. Later, other publishers including Time-Life (now Warner) and Hearst, were using the same program for their high-volume titles. From there, we expanded to third-class mail applications.

In the mid 80's we created a nonprofit fundraising package that was adopted as a standard feature by American City Bureau, , for their capital campaign consulting services. ACB, headquartered in Chicago and Atlanta, is one of the big "five" in the industry, and the first installation was for a $30,000,000 campaign for the Archdiocese of Boston.

This same period brought us an increased involvement in insurance-related software: flexible benefit, 401(k), and cafeteria-benefit plans for employees, including proposals, illustrations, and administration capabilities. We wrote applications for Capital Bankers Life, Mutual of Omaha, U. S. Life, Life of Maryland, and others.

The 90's started off with major contracts for automation of inventory and fulfillment applications for very large printing companies, the development of software for letter shops, and a commitment to a full spectrum of automation for offshore insurance and trust startup companies. We also helped Briggs Corporation (a major hospital supply house) take a large step toward the modern goal of the "paperless office" by creating a CD archive system that can record and recreate customer orders, pick lists, or invoices--eliminating the need for tons of paper document storage.

This period included greater involvement in off-shore businesses, creating software for MIS functions, web pages, Internet web servers, and document handling systems for insurance, investment programs, trusts, and related financial institutions.

H. A. Hanna Associates has adapted over the past two decades to meet the diverse and changing needs of our clients, but what has not changed is our original partnership and the close, personal working relationship that our clients depend on.
